Local, State and Federal authorities working to find missing child
Local, state and federal authorities are working together in Upper Merion Township to locate a 10 month old baby girl, Saanvi Venna, believed to have been taken from her family’s apartment after the murder of her grandmother, Satayvathi Venna, age 61, yesterday. Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman,Upper Merion Township Police Chief Thomas Nolan, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Philadelphia Division, Special Agent in Charge George Venizelos, announce the joint investigation into the homicide and child abduction, which occurred at the Marquis Apartments, 251 West DeKalb Pike in Upper Merion Township on Monday, October 22, 2012.

On Monday, October 22, 2012, at 1:16 PM, the Upper Merion Township Police Department responded to apartment C-603 for a reported homicide and child abduction. Investigators identified the missing child as Saanvi Venna, Asian Indian female, age 10 months. The Pennsylvania State Police issued an Amber Child Abduction Alert at the request of the Upper Merion Township Police. It is believed the abduction occurred on October 22, 2012 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

The body of Satyavathi Venna, age 61 was discovered inside the apartment. Venna is the paternal grandmother of Saanvi Venna and was babysitting the child. The grandmother was visiting from India, arriving in July 2012 and was scheduled to return home January 2013. The parents of the child are Venkata Konda Siva Venna (Father) and Chenchu Latha Punuru (Mother). The family was living together in the apartment. The parents emigrated from India in February 2007 and have previously lived in San Antonio Texas, Troy Michigan, and Cleveland Ohio. They moved to King of Prussia in June 2012.

In addition to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Fort Washington Field Office, the Upper Merion Township Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and Detective Bureau, agencies assisting in the search and rescue operation and homicide investigation include: Federal Bureau Investigation Crisis Negotiations Unit and Behavioral Analysis Unit (both in Quantico, Virginia), King of Prussia Fire Company, Lafayette Ambulance, Volunteer Medical Services of Lansdale and Montgomery County Police Academy.

An autopsy of the body of Satyavathi Venna is underway.
