Child Safety Tips for Walking to School: Practice the route with your child. Walk with a buddy or a group. Avoid Shortcuts. Try to avoid walking near abandoned houses. Be alert, tell an adult about any suspicious people. Ask parents & neighbors to turn on porch lights at dusk/dawn. Be sure your children know important phone numbers & their own address. If you work, have your children call when they arrive home. Talk with your children so that the lines of communication are open.
