Judy Rollins Hoschar ‎8/22/2012: Illinois: Peru police have opened a missing person investigation after Peru resident Kristin Hoff (17/left) ran away from home with Nathan Marco (30/right). Peru police chief Doug Bernabei said a family member reported Hoff missing Tuesday morning, 8/21/2012.

The last time she had contact with a family member was via text message to her father in Florida at 12:30 a.m. Monday notifying him after a conversation that she was going to bed. Hoff was reported missing about 10 hours later.

Bernabei said the department has some leads and have assigned a detective to the case.

“We don’t think she’s in danger and we believe she is a willing runaway,” Bernabei said. “At this time, we can’t determine if there is any criminal action until we have all the facts.”

Hoff’s mother, Tricia Glasper, said she believes Hoff had run away with Nathan Marco, who has several registered addresses throughout La Salle and Bureau counties. According to La Salle County Circuit Court records, Marco has only ever been charged with traffic penalties.

Glasper said Hoff and Marco met each other about a week ago. Family and friends has advised Hoff to stay away from Marco after his acquaintances accused him of violent, abusive and manipulative behavior.

But Hoff refused and a family argument ensued last weekend. Hoff told local family members she was going to move to Florida with her father, but she went to school on Monday and a movie with friends later that night before coming home at 11:30 p.m.

Glasper said Hoff left a note indicating “she was leaving to fix herself” and that she would call to let family members know she is OK.

Glasper said Wednesday that she has still not heard from her daughter.

“We’re worried about something happening to her,” she said. “I love her and want her to come home safely. I never thought I’d be in a position to feel this helpless.”

If you have information to locate Kristen please call the Peru Police Department at (815) 223-2151 or 911 if you think you see her and the suspect.
