The remains of missing 24-year-old old Mandy Marie Matula are found and positively identified. Finally, after months of searching for their loved one, Mandy’s family has answers.

According to an Eden Prairie Police press release human remains were found by a hiker on Saturday, Oct. 26 around 1 p.m. in a shallow grave. “The remains were found wrapped in a blanket, along with several personal effects, including an Eden Prairie High School class ring and a University of Minnesota Duluth Fastpitch Softball pullover embroidered with the number 14,” the release goes on to say.

Mandy vanished on May 1 after last seen with her ex-boyfriend, David Marshall Roe. Since day one, he’s always been a person of interest in this investigation to find her, but police couldn’t question him about Mandy. Reports indicate Roe took his own life the day after Mandy went missing.

Police say Mandy most likely died after she was shot in the head once before she was buried. The Eden Prairie Police and at least a dozen other agencies have worked extensively over the last six months to conclude this investigation.

The release concludes with, “The Eden Prairie Police Department extends its deepest condolences to Mandy Matula’s family and friends, and thanks the many community members and volunteers who dedicated themselves to finding her and bringing her home.”
