POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Troopers with the Mason County Detachment of
the West Virginia State Police are looking for a Point Pleasant man who
is not only wanted, but missing as well.
The last time anyone
saw Jeremy Michael VanMeter, 28, was while he was pumping gas for a
small, two-door blue car at Go-Mart on Viand Street in Point Pleasant in
February or March 2007, according to Sgt. E.B. Starcher. At the time,
VanMeter, who is formerly of Letart, was purchasing gas and cigarettes.
Starcher said law enforcement officials are looking for him because he failed to appear in court to have his probation revoked.
Although it isn’t unusual for his parents not to hear from him for
extended periods of time, Starcher said the couple recently became
worried and filed a missing persons report 10 days ago. They reportedly
haven’t spoken to their son since September 2006.
Starcher added that friends and other family members haven’t heard from VanMeter either.
Starcher said he has contacted jails in West Virginia and Michigan as
well as hospitals in an attempt to find VanMeter, who is described as
being 6 feet tall and weighing 155 pounds with a slender build. He has
brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone having any information about VanMeter is asked to call the Mason County Detachment at (304) 675-0850.
