Article dated 11/12/2012: Police search for man accused of killing Meyersdale girl: SOMERSET COUNTY, Pennsylvania: The search is on for a man accused of killing his girlfriend and burying her body in a shallow grave in Somerset county.

Police said Jonathan Beal strangled Justine Jackson and buried her underneath a viaduct along the Great Allegheny Passage near Meyersdale. Jackson had been missing since Sept. 14. Police said Beal was the last person to see her.

Jackson's body was discovered Sunday. Authorities filed charges against Beal Tuesday morning but said now, he's disappeared and they're not sure where he is.

According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday, a friend of Jackson's not only notified police Jackson had been missing, but she told them she believed Jackson has been killed by her boyfriend, Beal.

Well before Jackson's remains were discovered, a criminal complaint says Beal told several people around Meyersdale that he had killed her and buried her near the bike trail. On Tuesday, one of Beals' friends told us he heard something similar directly from Beal.

"My last interaction with Jonathan Beal was he came to my house and told me that Justine Jackson stole off him," said a friend of Beal's who did not want to be identified." (He said) for that she had to pay severe consequences."

But police said there were several rumors being passed around the small town, most they say were not true and that disrupted their investigation.

"Social media and the information that is gleaned from it is not fact," said Somerset County district attorney Lisa Lazzari-Strasiser.

"Trying to track down the legitimacy of where this statement comes from is almost impossible," said state police Trooper Stephen Limani.

State police were notified of Jackson's disappearance near the end of October and immediately started conducting interviews, even searched Beal's home. A neighbor told 6 News of a time police showed up with guns drawn.

"Several policemen some came out of their vehicle with their guns drawn," said Kathy White. "They were in and out several times, even managed to carry some clothes out of the trailer."

After Jackson's body was discovered over the weekend, police filed homicide charges against Beal. But friends told 6 News he's long left the area.

"He told me that he was going to Florida because I owed him some money and he was desperate to get outta here."

Police said it's still an active investigation. They do not know have a motive, but according to the criminal complaint and friends of Jacksons, she was pregnant. Police would not confirm or deny the report.

Anyone with information on Beals whereabouts should immediately call state police in Somerset.
