PRINCETON (WVVA) - The Mercer County Sheriff's Department has released further details on a teen missing from Mercer County who may have taken a bus to the Roanoke area.
Following is the full release from Cpl. S.A. Sommers:
Adreanna Hamby was reported missing on August 23rd by her parents; the father's name is Carl Hamby. She is 17 years of age and went missing from her home located in the Elkview Subdivision of Mercer County, near Green Valley. From the date she was reported missing to now I with the help from Sgt. M. Summers of the WV State Police have discovered the following facts:
August 23rd Adreanna was spotted in Bluefield, WV where she stayed with two males in an apartment.
August 24th Adreanna walked to the Bluefield Greyhound Bus Depot where she purchased a ticket to Roanoke under the name Jennifer Blankenship
Once on the bus I have been unable to determine if she made it to Roanoke or got off at a different depot. All Roanoke agencies were notified including the Amtrak Police Department but they were unable to locate her.
Her phone records show an alarming number of contacts from out of state, including the DC Metro area, New Jersey, Montana, New Hampshire, and Charlotte. The parents state that they nor their daughter are related or are friends with anyone from the states listed or the numerous other out of state numbers found.
To this date no person has come forward with information that would assist in the locating of Adreanna and it is my belief that she was "coached" by a third party in how to avoid detection while traveling abroad. Also, coupled with the fact that within two to three months prior to her disappearance she had a drastic change in her personality I believe that she may be in extreme danger.
Two cell phones and two computers were sent to the WV State Police Forensic Laboratory in Huntington to determine if there was information contained within the devices, but as of this date there has been very little information found within the devices.
Within over a week she has been missing for a month which makes it not only more difficult to find her but also increases her risk to injury or death and I believe if this story reaches enough people someone will come forward.
