REDDING, Calif. -- The Redding man convicted of beating his 8-year old son with a baseball bat has been sentenced to life in prison. Geoffrey Kelly, 53, of Redding, plead no contest to premeditated attempted murder this morning in Shasta County Court. On January 5, 2011, Kelly attacked his son with an aluminum baseball bat as the boy slept. Kelly is due back in court next Thursday for a follow-up hearing to determine what credit he will receive for time served.
