News 2 has learned that the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department is working on a new lead in perhaps the county's most infamous unsolved crime.
Five year old Justin Lee Turner was discovered murdered and sexually assaulted 25 years ago this month.
Turner never showed up to get on his school bus at his Horseshoe Drive home near Moncks Corner on March 3, 1989. When he didn't come home from Whitesville Elementary that afternoon, he was reported missing.

His body was found a couple of days later in a camper. Turner had been strangled and sexually assaulted.

Nobody has ever been charged and convicted in his death.
Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne Dewitt says there is new information. "We consider it a cold case, but not closed. As a matter fact we got a Crimestoppers tip on it I was shown just the other day."
Sheriff Dewitt says this tip came in within the last week or so. He said this tip was more specific than others they may receive. "This specific tip actually gave a name of the person. So we're trying to locate him. To see who the person is to see if the person exists."
We spoke with Sidney Wrenn of Wrenn Bail Bonds and Investigations. "The Justin Turner case is one that will never leave my mind. Because it was an investigation that everybody was interested in."
Wrenn was the lead investigator at the sheriff's office at the time of Justin's death. "We found the body (and) there wasn't any doubt in my mind that somebody close by knew what happened to him."
There are multiple theories about what happened. Justin's stepmother was charged with his death after the coroner held an inquest, but that charge was later dropped due to lack of evidence. The stepmother later changed her name and moved to the upstate.

A News and Courier article from 1991 headlined, "Sheriff calls boy key to Justin Turner case" details how a six year old boy says he saw a man wrap his hand around Turner's mouth before taking him away the day he went missing.

We asked Wrenn about the new tip that was called in to Crimestoppers. He is confident he knows what happened. "Any tips that would vary from the original investigation, I would have a hard time believing that tip was true."

Sheriff Dewitt says his department is in investigating the tip and doing what it can to hopefully one day get a conviction. "That is a case that is on a lot of people's minds. We'd love to be able to bring it to an end."
If you have any additional information on what happened to Justin, call Crimestoppers at 554-1111.

The remains of missing 24-year-old old Mandy Marie Matula are found and positively identified. Finally, after months of searching for their loved one, Mandy’s family has answers.

According to an Eden Prairie Police press release human remains were found by a hiker on Saturday, Oct. 26 around 1 p.m. in a shallow grave. “The remains were found wrapped in a blanket, along with several personal effects, including an Eden Prairie High School class ring and a University of Minnesota Duluth Fastpitch Softball pullover embroidered with the number 14,” the release goes on to say.

Mandy vanished on May 1 after last seen with her ex-boyfriend, David Marshall Roe. Since day one, he’s always been a person of interest in this investigation to find her, but police couldn’t question him about Mandy. Reports indicate Roe took his own life the day after Mandy went missing.

Police say Mandy most likely died after she was shot in the head once before she was buried. The Eden Prairie Police and at least a dozen other agencies have worked extensively over the last six months to conclude this investigation.

The release concludes with, “The Eden Prairie Police Department extends its deepest condolences to Mandy Matula’s family and friends, and thanks the many community members and volunteers who dedicated themselves to finding her and bringing her home.”

MISSING PERSON : TIMEKA DONYALE PRIDGEN

HAVE YOU SEEN ME? Timeka Donyale Pridgen 5/12/01 LaGrange NC http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/p/pridgin_timeka.html I ask that you please share Timeka's story. Will you please share? One tip...that's all it takes. Thank You! Timeka was last seen at 10:15 p.m. in the living room at her residence on South Street in La Grange NC on May 12, 2001. Her mother Cosandra Best, was waiting for her boyfriend, Eric Earl Mercer Moore, to come home. She planned to break up with him that night. Best fell asleep and woke up at approximately midnight, and discovered her daughter was gone and Moore wasn't at the residence either. Authorities initially classified Timeka as a runaway and believed she may have traveled to Goldsboro NC. However, they now think she may have been forced out of her home by someone after she let the person inside. She was barefoot at the time of her disappearance and left all her belongings behind, including her purse, money and her shoes. Moore is considered a person of interest in Timeka's disappearance. He had prior convictions for kidnapping, assault, theft and a sex crime, something Best didn't discover until after Timeka vanished. In 2006, he was convicted again of sexually assaulting a minor and is in prison. He hasn't been charged in connection with Timeka's case. A photo of Moore is posted below this case summary. Timeka's mother stated her daughter was a typical teenager in 2001 and enjoyed drawing, and that she had no reason to run away from home. Her case remains unsolved. If you have any information concerning Timeka's case, please contact: LaGrange Police Department 252-527-5117 OR Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office 252-559-6100 NO WORD YET IN 2001 DISAPPEARANCE OF LAGRANGE GIRL Source: Kinston.com By Wes Wolfe / Staff Writer Published: Monday, August 5, 2013 at 21:19 PM http://www.kinston.com/news/local/no-word-yet-in-2001-disappearance-of-la-grange-girl-1.182520?page=0 Sharing generates awareness, Awareness generates support, Support generates HOPE. UPDATE!!!!! POLICE: MOTORIST CALLED 911 SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE HE DIED IN ROAD-RAGE SHOOTING (January 10, 2014) In multiple 911 calls shortly before he was killed, a man said he was being chased by an enraged motorist -- right up to when he was apparently run off the road in Pennsylvania and then shot to death, police said Friday. Timothy Davison, 28, was driving home to Maine along Interstate 81 early last Saturday when he was shot multiple times and killed in Antrim Township. So far, there is no indication that Davison initiated the incident or provoked the shooter, Pennsylvania State Police Capt. Steven Junkin told reporters Friday. Davison may have first encountered the shooter on Interstate 70 in Maryland and traveled between 13 and 15 miles, with the gunman in pursuit, before being forced off the road just beyond the Pennsylvania state line, authorities said. Junkin said Davison called 911 from Maryland and Pennsylvania, but he declined to provide details. Authorities have not released the contents of those 911 calls, citing the ongoing investigation. A task force made up of Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia state police, as well as FBI agents, is seeking help from the public and operators of body shops in finding a "dark colored" Ford Ranger XLT pickup with damage on the driver's side from ramming into Davison's car. "How concerned are we that it'll happen again?" Junkin asked. "We obviously have an individual out there who was so incensed that he continued to pursue Mr. Davison and took it to that next step. He murdered an individual for whatever slight that he perceived. Will this person do it again? We don't know. We don't want to take that chance." The Maine resident ended up shot multiple times, a death that authorities have ruled a homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-472-8477. Investigators initially believed the same motorist may have been behind another road rage shooting eight hours earlier and 56 miles northeast, but Junkin said Friday that the two crimes do not appear to be related. James Allocca, Davison's uncle, told CNN this week that the family "wants justice before someone else gets hurt." The victim's father, Timothy Davison Sr., said he learned about his son's death when police arrived at his door Saturday. "I can't begin to tell you what it's like to hear that," he said. "It's not right." He went to Pennsylvania on Tuesday to collect his son's personal belongings. His son, he said, was a "great guy and a very easy kid to raise." "He cared for everyone around him," he said. "He was a rugged kid, extremely sensitive." Davison worked at his father's construction business. He said he hoped to meet his son's killer. Asked what he would say, Davison said: "That is for me." "There are different levels of loss," Allocca said. "This has to be the worst." MANHUNT: WILL VIOLENT ROAD RAGE KILLER STRIKE AGAIN? video here http://www.hlntv.com/video/2014/01/08/timothy-davison-road-rage-killer-manhunt Authorities fear a violent road-rage killer who gunned down a 28-year-old man driving home after the holidays could strike again. Do you have information? Call the tipline at 800-427-8477. A young man driving home from holidays spent w/his family makes a frantic call to 911 reporting he was being followed by a dark-colored pickup truck. The unknown man rammed his car, forcing him off the road. Then, police say, the enraged driver got out of his truck & shot the young man. Now, there’s a manhunt for a murderer & police are begging for witnesses to come forward. Who murdered 28-yr-old man in apparent random road rage? And will he strike again? https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/roadrage

HAVE YOU SEEN ME? Christina Whittaker Young Project Jason Profile 11/13/09 Hannibal MO http://projectjason.org/forums/index.php?topic=7442.0 I ask that you please share Christina's story. Will you please share? One tip...that's all it takes. Thank You! Twenty-one-year-old Christina Whittaker disappeared at 11:45 p.m. Friday after leaving Rookies Sports Bar at 611 Broadway. “There’s nothing to indicate foul play,” Police Capt. James Hark said Tuesday afternoon. “We’re not ruling that out, but we’re pursuing all angles at this point.” Hark said detectives were conducting a wide search that included the assistance of a Missouri Water Patrol boat, the use of all-terrain vehicles and the help of other law enforcement agencies. “We’ve been in contact with family, friends and acquaintances,” he said. “We’ve had officers go and knock on doors of places of previous known contacts. We’re blanketing every area we can think of.” Hark said Whittaker’s family had been cooperative. He called the intensive search a “typical response” by his department to a missing persons report. “We always broaden our scope,” he said. “We’re trying to follow up everything we can. Information is really thin right now.” Investigators said Whittaker met with friends Friday night at the downtown bar. A police report indicated she was asked to leave by a bartender “due to her level of intoxication” and the fact that she became “disorderly with other bar patrons.” Witnesses said Whittaker left the bar by herself and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, pink tank top and pink and white Nike tennis shoes. “Other information from witnesses indicates while at the bar Christina was not only consuming a large quantity of alcohol but also taking prescription medication,” according to a police report. Court records show Whittaker’s last known address as 1708 Ruby in the Oakwood neighborhood on the southwest side of the city. People with information should call the department’s Criminal Investigation Division at (573) 221-0987. Sharing generates awareness, Awareness generates support, Support generates HOPE.
