MONGO, Ind. (WANE) - MONGO, Ind. ( WANE) Darleen and Terry Anderson were found beaten to death in their Mongo home in October of 2005 and authorities still haven't solved the crime. The family said the police have had a person of interest for quite some time, but there is not enough evidence to make an arrest. So, every year, Musilek has held a memorial hoping one year, it'd be the last.
“This day, the 21st of October 7 years ago, all I really remember is screaming,” said Sherry Musilek, the daughter of Darleen and Terry Anderson.
That's when Musilek got the call that her parents had been murdered.
“Seven years ago, we were all shocked with the news that this tragedy had occurred,” said Jim Bartlett, the pastor at Mongo United Methodist Church. “You never expect for something like that to happen in a small community where essentially everyone knows everyone else.”
“The first year, yeah, I never thought I'd be here for seven of them,” Musilek said.
Phil Burlew lived down the street from the Andersons for more than 30 years. He said the murder has made some people in the town change their habits.
“We used to leave our doors unlocked,” Burlew said. “We weren't afraid to leave our doors unlocked, now I lock my doors.”
The family said people shouldn't be living in fear because someone should have been behind bars by now. They are angry they still have no answers and want the police to ask for help.
“I think that they're doing the best that they can as far as what was offered to them at the crime scene, but 7 years, I think maybe they need to look at another avenue and have some fresh eyes look at the case,” Musilek said.
However, until they get the answers, family and friends said they are going to focus on seeking justice rather than on the brutal crime itself.
“Wish they was here, and we don't have to do this, but I'll keep doing it until there's closure on it,” Burlew said.
The family is still offering $20,000 for an arrest and conviction, and they're asking anyone with information to please come forward.
The couple was the first double-homicide in LaGrange county history.

munity believe the body is that of the missing teenager. Marks disappeared in early May.
A Fort Thompson police officer confirmed the discovery of the body, but couldn't say what condition the body was in or how long it had been there. Marks' aunt tells KSFY News it appears the body had been in the sandbar for some time. Family members also say the body was taken to Rapid City for an autopsy.
Marks was reported missing on May 4 and believed to be endangered. The early missing persons report said she was distraught over a relationship and had made threats to harm herself. A city-wide search was conducted immediately following her disappearance. Marks' family searched for months, hoping to find the teen in another part of the state.
Marks would be a 10th grader this school year. Her family said she lived to draw and wanted to be an artist.
