Jeramy Carl Burt's burned out car..showing any evidence gone

Jeramy Burt, who grew up in American Falls, went missing five years ago on February 11, 2007. He left behind a daughter, a business, and a lot of speculation about what really happened.

After being reported missing, Burt's disappearance remains suspicious to his family. They say it was completely out of character for this 35-year-old to just up and leave. They find it especially difficult to understand, because according to them he would never abandon his little girl.

Four months after he went missing, the case took a strange turn that some suggest proves foul play. The remains of the car that Burt was apparently driving were discovered 45 miles north of the Nevada border. The car was found by a cowboy in a very remote area.

The abandoned car had been burned out. Investigators believe someone was trying to hide something, though they are not convinced it was foul play.

Details of Disappearance

Burt was last seen in the 2200 block of Hervey Street in Boise, Idaho at 10:30 p.m. on February 11, 2007. Shortly after his disappearance, his ex-wife got a text message from Burt's cellular phone, stating he planned to disappear and was moving to a new address and getting a new life. He has never been heard from again.
Burt's family believe he may have come to harm, as it would be uncharacteristic of him to abandon his young daughter. In May 2007, the Mercury Cougar Burt had been driving at the time of his disappearance was found abandoned and burned in an extremely remote desert area 45 miles north of the Nevada state line. The vehicle belonged to Burt's ex-wife. Authorities searched the car, but found no evidence as to Burt's whereabouts.

Burt's case is being investigated as a missing person rather than a crime, but his family fears for his safety. His case remains unsolved.

There were no tire tracks or foot prints around where the three claimed that the car got stuck. This is even verified by the statements given by NYS DEC officials. Even back in 1987 one of them publically stated that he had doubts about the story told by the three (here is a link where you can read all of the original 1987 news articles: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1848765859457.111570.1250022293&type=3). Within these articles you’ll also see the complete disregard showed by the officials running the search & rescue. (ie: statements such as “What we’ll do periodically is check along the roads and whatever opens up first in the spring. It’ll be a very informal type of search.”-statement by DEC Ranger LaRow) And three months after Joe disappeared, the NYS DEC put a 3 dog search team out on a 1 mile sq area for just 2 days, after which they proclaimed “We found no evidence, no clues. I’m not putting anyone else into the woods. We feel at this point we’re not going to continue any other organized searches,.”-statement by DEC Ranger Ovitt. COMPLETE disregard for Joe! 4 days after the initial search began, the police ALL pulled out of the search efforts and the Village of Ellenville Chief of Police George Sheeley made the decision to seek the demolition of the burned out ski lodge that the kids were partying in (the last known location where Joe was). Without searching the area, 6 months after Joe disappeared Sheeley had the Town building inspector work with the Cragsmoor Fire Dept to burn the building to the ground!!! The 2-year-old Detroit girl has been missing since Dec. 2. Her father, D'Andre Lane, told police the girl was in a rear car seat when the vehicle was taken at gunpoint on Custer Street near Brush Street. The car was found a short time later, but the girl wasn't in it.

Police have publicly questioned the credibility of the father’s story, but Lane continues to claim he had nothing to do with his daughter’s disappearance.

Last week, the Prosecutor’s Office said the Detroit Police Department requested a warrant in connection with the disappearance of Bianca, but no details regarding the request were released.

Police previously released a composite sketch of a suspect, described as a light-skinned African-American man who is not clean-shaven.

Deputies found his vehicle, a Chevy Lumina, at 3:16 p.m. Saturday near the 100 line gate on the Upper Calapooia Road. Linn County deputies checked the area on foot and with ATVs but did not locate Hardin. On Sunday, additional deputies and members of the Linn County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team joined the search effort until about 11 p.m. The search continued Monday with deputies, 15 members of Search and Rescue and four Linn County Sheriff's Mounted Posse members on horseback. They searched until about 10:30 Monday night. The search resumed Tuesday morning with four deputies, 24 members of Search and Rescue and a K-9 tracking unit from Benton County. A lighter and water bottle have been found alongside the road, not far from the vehicle, and are believed to belong to Hardin. Deputies have checked with Hardin's cell phone carrier to see if there were any recent calls or text messages made from his phone. There were not. They also tried to call the phone but it went to voicemail. Computer crimes detectives have Hardin's laptop and cell phone and, with his wife's permission, and are looking for possible clues as to Hardin's whereabouts
