Harsha Maddula, 18, is a pre-med student at Northwestern University. The college sophomore attended an off-campus house party and hasn't been seen since he left early Saturday
The search for a New Hyde Park resident who disappeared after leaving an off-campus party at his Illinois college over the weekend has intensified as the FBI joins local authorities in the effort to find him.
Harsha Maddula, 18, is a pre-med student at Northwestern University. The college sophomore attended an off-campus house party and hasn't been seen since he left early Saturday.
Campus security cameras show Maddula never returned to his dorm, which is about half a mile away from the house party.
The missing teenager's parents left their New York home over the weekend and are now searching for their son, along with thousands of others, in Illinois.
Police told Maddula's father that they have spoken with the friends who accompanied the teenager to the party on multiple occasions. All say they encouraged him to leave when they did and thought he was right behind them when they walked out. They didn't look back to see that he wasn't.
Police also told Maddula's father that the student's dorm supervisor called him at 12:30 a.m. Saturday asking where he was and Maddula told her he was in his room. Police say multiple searches of the room and surrounding video show Maddula never returned after leaving for the party at 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Maddula's cousin is conducting search efforts through Facebook while he attends school in Hoboken.
"Every piece of information, no matter how myopic, will be useful," the post on the public page reads.
Maddula's family says the teen was recently diagnosed with diabetes, which makes finding him even more urgent.
"Maybe he fell somewhere, maybe he became disoriented, we don't know," his uncle said.
Maddula is described as being about 5 feet 4 inches tall and 135 pounds with black hair. He wears black-framed glasses.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Northwestern University Police at 847-491-3254.

FLINT, MI -- A Flint police detective says he has been "purposely misled by those who have knowledge of what actually happened" to a 14-year-old Flint girl who disappeared in 1998.
"On several occasions, this investigation has purposely been misled by those who have knowledge of w
hat actually happened to Coral (Hall)," said Detective Sgt. Greg Hosmer. "It has caused heart-breaking delays for some of Coral's family as well as her closest friends."
Hosmer would not elaborate on his comments, which come days after what would have been Hall's 28th birthday and 14 years after she vanished from her grandmother's home in Flint.
Hall's maternal grandmother, Lois Janish, said she has no new information about the case and referred questions to Robin Wheaton, a Flint attorney.
"I have nothing further to say about this case from here on in," Janish said. "I feel I have the right to retain a lawyer."
Hall was reported missing on Sept. 22, 1998, and has never been located since. Her mysterious disappearance has been the subject of several stories in The Flint Journal and police have received several tips and reports of possible sightings, but the case has grown quiet in recent years.
Hall was last known to have been in Flint when she called a friend who was living in the Thumb area of Michigan from a pay phone near the White Horse Tavern.
The friend has said Hall told her there was trouble at home and that she needed to get out of Flint, but when her friends arrived in Flint that night, Hall was nowhere to be found and never resurfaced.
Before referring questions to the attorney, Janish said she has moments when she thinks her granddaughter is alive and others when she thinks she has become the victim of foul play.
"A lot of people disappear who don't want to be found," she said.
The Hall case remains open at the Flint Police Department, and a reward for information is available. Contact Hosmer at (810) 237-6945 or Crime Stoppers at 800-422-JAIL.

West Virginia Missing Persons Kimberly Sue Jones has not been seen since her mysterious disappearance on Feb. 3, 2009. Around 11 a.m., Kimberly’s neighbor saw her leave their apartment complex with her 5-year-old daughter, ex-boyfriend and his current wife.

Kimberly Sue Jones has not been seen since her mysterious disappearance on Feb. 3, 2009. Around 11 a.m., Kimberly’s neighbor saw her leave their apartment complex with her 5-year-old daughter, ex-boyfriend and his current wife.
But aside from this initial sighting, the young mother hasn’t been seen since. Detectives say Kimberly's ex-boyfriend told police they spent the day together, and he eventually dropped her off alone at her apartment, around 11 p.m. Kimberly's family reported her missing Feb. 8 after she couldn't be reached.
To this day, Kimberly's sudden and mysterious disappearance puzzles the detective on the case.
"It's like she just fell off the face of the earth," Parkersburg Police Detective Decker A. Moody. He said the investigation has hit a wall.
No evidence points to foul play, however, Kimberly's high-risk lifestyle and trusting nature makes for a potentially large suspect pool, according to cops. Police need people to come forward with any information they have in order to piece together the puzzle.
Kimberly has a tattoo on her shoulder of a red rose. Her nickname, "Kimmie Sue," and the name "Jack" are also tattooed around the rose and its stem. She also has a half-circle scar on her neck, as well as a birthmark on her buttocks. If you know anything regarding Kimberly's disappearance, call our Hotline 1-800-CRIME-TV.
