It is NOT disrespectful to talk about what happened to Katelyn, how she was found or what was obviously done to her. It is painful and it is unpleasant but it is NOT disrespectful because it was the end of her life. If we don't acknowledge what happened, if we candy coat it and just post pictures of butterflies and her favorite things then she is left to have gone through it all by herself. These things happened to her. She was killed and her remains were dumped on the side of a creek with trash and parts of her were found in a bag. That IN NO WAY diminishes who she was, she was wonderful. And someone took her life away from her and her away from those who love her. That person or persons would probably LOVE IT if we didn't discuss the ugly things they did. But if ugliness befalls someone you care about you sometimes have to wade through the ugliness in order to help them. The people on this page are not here to gawk. They've been here 20 months worrying about this girl and now they are wading through the ugliness because they don't want anyone to get away with this.

Please
share!! Help get my friend's face and story out there. She has been
missing since July 19, 2006. This family and her kids deserve
answers...this is not an event you have to actually attend. It is just
to raise awareness that Melanie Metheny is still missing and she is
loved and missed by so many including me! Sharing this event and her
photo may land in the right persons hands and they may have information
or tips and not even know it. If you know anything about where Melanie
went or may have happened on that day please do the right thing and come
forward!

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Troopers with the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police are looking for a Point Pleasant man who is not only wanted, but missing as well.
The last time anyone saw Jeremy Michael VanMeter, 28, was while he was pumping gas for a small, two-door blue car at Go-Mart on Viand Street in Point Pleasant in February or March 2007, according to Sgt. E.B. Starcher. At the time, VanMeter, who is formerly of Letart, was purchasing gas and cigarettes.
Starcher said law enforcement officials are looking for him because he failed to appear in court to have his probation revoked.
Although it isn’t unusual for his parents not to hear from him for extended periods of time, Starcher said the couple recently became worried and filed a missing persons report 10 days ago. They reportedly haven’t spoken to their son since September 2006.
Starcher added that friends and other family members haven’t heard from VanMeter either.
Starcher said he has contacted jails in West Virginia and Michigan as well as hospitals in an attempt to find VanMeter, who is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing 155 pounds with a slender build. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone having any information about VanMeter is asked to call the Mason County Detachment at (304) 675-0850.
