A 70-year-old Santa Cruz antiques dealer remained missing Wednesday after nearly three weeks since she disappeared.
Deanna Brooks, who works at Attilia's Antiques on Soquel Drive, told her friends and family that she planned to drive to north San Diego County on Aug. 25. A neighbor last saw Brooks on Aug. 24 in her Berkeley Way driveway in Santa Cruz.
Brooks and her gold Chrysler PT Cruiser have not been seen since. Stirling Flynn, Brooks' oldest son, said from San Luis Obispo on Wednesday that he hoped to rent a piloted plane to search that area.
Flynn and a helicopter pilot did a similar search Sept. 1 around Watsonville and Moss Landing. He and his daughter have been scouring areas near Highway 101.
"We have nothing," Flynn said. "There's no bank records, there's no phone records, there's no nothing."
He said he planned to go to his grandmother's home near San Diego and deal with Brooks' estate.
A Santa Cruz police detective has been working on the case and searched her home for clues. Her bank records did not show any activity since Aug. 23, her family said. She is diabetic and requires medication.
"This one's really frustrating. It's really perplexing," Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark said last week.
"We think she had her medication with her and was going somewhere," Clark said. "To try to search every possible road is not impossible, but it's a significant task and it's beyond our resources."

"The more people that we can get the message out, too, the better chance that someone will spot her or her vehicle," Clark said.
