In the District, African Americans — people such as Allean Logan — go missing each year, but little effort is made to publicize these cases.
Americans are oblivious. They have no desire to learn about the dozens of black faces that vanish nationally every day. Elizabeth Smart and Natalee Holloway become the stuff of a national news media frenzy, while Ms. Logan’s story falls by the wayside.
