Just before midnight on Saturday July 30, 2011, firefighters responded to the home of Bill and Kay Wood near Norwalk. Bill’s body was found inside the rubble. He had been shot several times. There was no sign of Kay.

NORWALK, Iowa — Wednesday marks three years since an elderly man was murdered in his home and his wife disappeared.
Just before midnight on Saturday July 30, 2011, firefighters responded to the home of Bill and Kay Wood near Norwalk. Bill’s body was found inside the rubble. He had been shot several times. There was no sign of Kay.
“The longer she goes, not being found or anything it puts doubts in your mind,” says Bill Wood’s sister, Zelda Dyer.
Authorities are still on the hunt for a person of interest. The man, described as in his late 40s to early 60s, 6’2”-6’6” tall, was seen near the couple’s pickup truck in Kansas City a day after the murder.
The Department of Criminal Investigation the case isn’t yet considered a cold case, the department continues receives a couple of leads a month.
“We’ve gotten several leads over the last several years but nothing that puts us over the top to be able to bring the case to resolution,” says DCI Special Agent, Michael Motsinger.
There is an $8,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
