WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Crime Stoppers and the Wilmington Police
Department are offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading
to the whereabouts of an 83-year-old woman who went missing at the
beginning of November.
Alma Lawson, 83, was reported missing to
police by her son after she didn't return home from a friend's house
November 4. Lawson's family filed a missing persons report with the CUE
Center for Missing Persons about two weeks later.
Family
members say Lawson is believed to show early signs of dementia. Due to
her age and physical limitations, police say she has been considered to
be endangered since the day she went missing.
The Wilmington
Police Department initiated an exhaustive search of the entire area,
including the nearby creek and wooded areas. WPD's K-9 and mounted units
participated, as did the SABLE helicopter.
Other organizations
came in to assist, including the Wilmington and New Hanover County Fire
Departments, New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Brunswick Search and
Rescue and Roxye Ann Marshall, urban search and rescue K-9 handler.
Lawson was last seen wearing a lavender shirt, black pants and a black jacket. A photo is attached.
Anyone who may have seen Alma Lawson or who knows where she is should
call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3620, or Crime Stoppers
at 1-800-531-9845. Information also may be submitted anonymously
through Text-A-Tip. Enter Tip708 and the message; send to CRIMES
(274637).
