ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A SARAA alert was issued Tuesday afternoon after a 5-year-old heart transplant patient was taken by his father from a local hospital.
Police said Porter Stone was taken from St. Louis Children’s Hospital without permission by his father, Jeffery Stone.

According to the victim’s uncle, Porter is from St. Joseph, Missouri and was flown to St. Louis from Kansas City two days ago to be on a waiting list for the transplant.
The uncle said the boy was discharged around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

“The father was with his son to go to the pharmacy to check on his meds. After we dropped off our stuff, we went back into find him and he was gone,” the uncle said.
Officials said Jeffery Stone called the child’s mother, who was also at the hospital, and told her he was leaving with the child.

Porter, who is next in line to receive a heart transplant, is reportedly still hooked up to an IV machine and doesn’t have his medications. According to officials, he was last seen wearing a grey tee shirt, black and white plaid shorts and Spider Man tennis shoes. He’s also carrying a back pack that contains medical equipment.

Police are searching for Jeffery Stone’s car, a silver four-door Toyota Corolla with California license plates. Investigators think Jeffery’s mother is also in the car. Officials said the father is about 6-feet-6-inches tall and weighs about 230 pounds. He has a shaved head and was last seen wearing a grey shirt, black shorts and a San Francisco Giants baseball cap.

We’ll be sure to update the story as more details are released
