When Ivanice Harris smiled, her family and friends say, she lit up a room. Ivanice was someone’s daughter; someone’s sister; someone’s childhood friend; someone’s loving and dedicated girlfriend, and a blessing to so many who knew her. Just 3 months ago on May 17th, 2013 she lost her life at the hands of a murderer. She could have just as easily been your daughter, sister, mother, or friend. Most of all, she was a human being who never deserved to undergo such a tragic fate. While we can’t ever bring Ivanice back, we can honor her and her loved ones by taking action to assure justice is served.

As citizens of the United States of America, we must ensure that our justice system is true, objective, and fair. It must be a system in which we feel we can have faith in its ability to uphold what’s right for all citizens. We must hold those who commit harm to others accountable for their actions. Has justice been adequately served for Ivanice? Does her murderer deserve to walk the same streets as you and I without consequence?

We must unite in camaraderie with one another to speak as a whole on behalf of Ivanice and the justice she deserves. We must come together and demonstrate our concern for what is truly just and fair. It’s our duty as Americans to stand up for what is right, and to ensure a murder is not let loose onto our streets. As noble act of demonstration, we choose to march the streets for Ivanice, and others who are entitled to the justice they deserve.

On Saturday, August 17, 2013 at noon, we will come together and march for justice. Join in and make your voice heard.
