Edward 'Ed' Hataway - Olney, Illinois - September...

Ed Hataway was a lifelong resident of Olney, IL. Ed lived in an upstairs apartment on land adjacent to Illinois State Highway Route 50 inside the city limits of Olney, in Richland County, IL. Ed worked the afternoon of Sunday, September 16, at the K of C; others present recalled the afternoon as pleasant and uneventful. Ed spoke by phone with his brother Sunday evening, and was to meet with his landlord to assist with a work project on Monday morning. Ed had a good work ethic and would not miss a work assignment without calling his co-workers. After Ed did not appear at the job site, investigation revealed that Ed's truck was parked, locked, in its usual spot at the foot of the stairs to his apartment. His shoes were in the parking lot near the truck. Ed's dog was inside Ed's unlocked apartment, as was his wallet, his cell phone, supper dishes, an unfinished drink, and a puzzle he had been working on. Volunteers searched the surrounding area with no results. Illinois State police processed Ed's apartment as a "crime scene".
